The FCR is the primary form of communication. View more details for requirements.

Details

They say that Aria sings into the dreams of inventors, scholars, philosophers, artists, and politicians. Though many warn that her voice can lead to insanity, countless advances in technology and power throughout history have been claimed to have been inspired by her song.

The Fysa Communications Relay (FCR)

An immanu called Ithika is the creator of the server and network which hosts central communications. There are servers in Ichorrai, Ynochrin, Immitheus, and Lireah. The network takes advantage of the condensed fysa in the atmosphere to quickly send small amounts of data across long distances (text, not voice).

Anyone with a communications device called a Replier can access the chat, however they can lose connection when separated from the main atmosphere of fysa by heading underground, or encountering strong aria interference.

The network is simple-- private, one-on-one conversations are not possible, but anyone with the right device can access and relay talk on the channel.

Also, fysa can only take a signal so far before it degrades and is lost. Ithika is always looking for help in installing repeaters to relay the signal further away from Ichorrai.

Create a Tupper

We have tupperbox, a discord bot for speaking in character, and a chatroom for in-character talk. For this event, you can get rewards by simply creating a 'tupper' for a character and submitting screenshots of it speaking. Use the #commands channel to set up your tupper!

  • tul!help command
get info on a specific command
  • tul!register "Name" Bracket: text
create a new tupper! Their display name will be the Name you set. The bracket is the trigger you use to get the bot to replace the text. Replace the word Bracket with whatever you want the trigger to be. Your bracket can also be formatting. The following are all examples of valid brackets- you don't HAVE to put a name in and can just use symbols as a shortcut, but you must tell the bot where the text goes by using text:
    • Ithika: text
    • >text<
    • >>text
  • tul!avatar "Name" link/image
add an avatar for your character. You can link an existing image, or copy-paste or upload a new image.
  • tul!tag "Name" Tag
add a tag to your character. The tag appears after their name. Ithika's tag is [System Administrator], for example.

If you do not have an adopt and would like to participate in this event, human characters are free to make in Orrison!

A dream echoes out across the collective consciousness. View more details for requirements.

Details

The Spirebreak

Storm season passes without incident- instead of the harsh torrent of the aria storm and the following clarity of weather, the world is plagued by a persistent and annoying humidity and drizzle. The change causes unease, which only grew as time passed.

The weather does not deter work in Kinstead. Aelius erects a barrier around the lesser spire, and rumours spread that whatever work is ongoing within its limits are what are causing the lack of storms. Many wonder if he's 'solved it'- if his goal was taming the forces of nature and fixing the problems his ancestors caused with the Senescence.

Through this calm, those in Immitheus are able to take the opportunity to fortify their city, and they even are able to help repair the teleport in Ichorrai by referencing the technology they uncovered. Life even returns to a resemblance of normalcy in Ichorrai and Ynochrin.

Then the spire breaks.

A great force rips through the spire itself, causing the entire world to shudder. Quakes plague the earth, exposing new ruins and burying old ones. The crystal spire itself cracks and even shatters, its coloration warping and darknening in jagged splotches and veins through the normally blue crystal, and the sound of it is like superheated glass exploding. From every crack and break spews a miasma, not unlike the storms that it normally produces, but much heavier, much thicker, and absolutely unceasing. The miasma covers the world in a matter of days, darkening the skies.

The Dream

At the same time, everyone in the world experiences a dream simultaneously. It begins as a whistling scream echoing the sounds of the spire's destruction, and plunges each individual into their own personal vision:

You stand in a vast cavern where a great beast sleeps. The cavern is so large, you cannot see its dark edges, and the darkness is so heavy that your eyes hallucinate stars as pinpricks in the blackness. The breath of the creature before you is laborous and ragged, and you can smell the sickness and pain rolling off of its body even from a distance. Someone is holding your hand, and though you cannot see them in the dark, you know who it is-- a loved one, a family member, a stranger... the figure varies from dreamer to dreamer. They say that it has been a very long time since they've seen you, even if you had only seen them just yesterday in the waking world. Then they apologize. Fys is waking up, and that cannot come to pass. If Fys' dream ends, then it will reclaim every shard of its soul, one way or another, and every being on Orrison will die.

The Aria's lullaby has been interrupted, her song changed to a scream, but now she is free to use her voice to freely guide you- to wield your intelligence, your determination, your strength, or simply your life. Is the beast in front of you Fys? Surely it cannot be-- though it is large, it is too small to be the entire world, you think. You feel it may be someone else, but someone important. As you awaken, you feel both a deep dread and the sense that you are loved- both by Aria's voice, and by whatever awakens beneath your feet.

Option A: Visual Art

Draw your character's dream as a collage, vignette, or splash image. A splash image is an image which acts as a summary of events, often portraying either the main moment in an event, or having multiple moments in one image (example | example).

The common themes of the dream is darkness, stars, and being spoken to by Aria through the mouth of a family member, friend, enemy, or stranger. Aria may also show your character visions specific to them in order to motivate them, so you are free to change or specify the contents of your character's dream.

Minimum Visual Art requirements:

  • 1 halfbody character
  • sketch
  • flat colors OR shading
  • Platform Background, Partial Background, or Simple Background
Option B: Literature

Write about your character's vision from Aria. Include a couplet somewhere in the literature!

The common themes of the dream is darkness, stars, and being spoken to by Aria through the mouth of a family member, friend, enemy, or stranger. Aria often speaks in rhythm but this isn't necessarily always in song or rhyme. She may also show your character visions specific to them in order to motivate them, so you are free to change or specify the contents of your character's dream.

Completion of this prompt will reward you with a luraa MYO slot. View more details for requirements.

Details

The Spirebreak

With the destruction of the spire, the aria storms have abated and magic coalesces on the surface, stronger than ever. In the miasma, new spirits manifest, perhaps a sign of the changes occurring in the world and its landscape.

The Luraa

Luraa are manifestations of natural magic. They have a stone core which acts as a focus for their being, and stores their most vital essence much like how a gemstone holds fysa. Because Luraa form naturally in the environment, they used to be treated as 'spirits of the land' by many others. They were wiped out with the introduction of fysa and aria storms, but now that the storms have abated they have returned to Orrison.

The Rites of Valor are used to realign your spiritual balance. View more details for requirements.

Details

Create an illustration where your character participates in the Rites of Valor.

the rites

Valorism is the most popular religious identity in Orrison, with the widest range of sub-religions. It is centered around the idea of many spirits and multiple small gods. It is acceptable in Valorism to accept one god or a few gods as patron deities to devote yourself to (many spirits are attached to locations, families, etc, and can be very personal), but it is also just as accepted to have no patron deity and to simply respect spirits as they are.

The backbone of the faith involves the belief in positive and negative karmic energy (not good or bad, just positive and negative) that affect the spirits, which in turn affect the physical world. Helping your own deities through prayer, encouragement, and offerings can help to maintain harmony.

Every living being is a small spirit in and of itself, just with a physical body, so Valorism also teaches that you must treat others with respect as well. When one dies, their energies rejoin the spiritual atmosphere of the world (Fys). The state of their afterlife, whether pleasant or hellish, depends on the state of the physical realm. If harmonic balance is not maintained, the area will cause all spiritual life to suffer. Pressure is put on practitioners because their actions are responsible for the suffering of spirits, and their owns pirits will join them after death.

One can balance their energy by performing certain behaviors and surrounding one's self with certain objects and colors. This can vary from self restraint and punishment to reward and indulgence, as prescribed by Valoric Sages. It includes things like taking pilgrimmages, eating certain foods, and wearing certain colors. The prescribed rituals depend on one's mental state, build, health, recent actions, and eye color and more, such as:

  • Punishment
    • Isolation
    • Fasting
    • Giving up material goods
  • Reward
    • Indulging in rich food

A fair to lighten spirits, provide good food, and fundraise for a school.

Details

This prompt was written by NoriTheSeaDragon.

Flyers are being handed out across cities and towns, a small autumn celebration and food fair is going to take place this month!

A couple from Lireah, a peppy Kheiraa named Quintel, and a quiet Leyr librarian named Minerva are the main hosts of the event. The pair say they want to bring a little cheer back to the celebration of the month, especially after hearing about the tragic events of last year. They are also using the fair to gain a little bit of attention and fundraising for an academy and archive they hope to start in the coming months. To help fundraise they are selling raffle wagers at the event, so don’t forget to pick one up! Notably, The Nameless Poet, or Poet for short, a Ptheran performer is joining the couple to help host and organize music for the event as well.

Anyone is welcome, but the fair is intended to be a lighthearted event- there will be no effigy burning, just to be safe, though costumes and masks are still encouraged (but not required). Participants are free to get permission to run their own booths to sell food or host games-- and a crescent shaped table serves as a free for all buffet where any can partake in a community-wide potluck, bringing or taking autumn-themed food.

It's time for Newcomer Invites!

This month, anyone who already owns an Orrison character (whether closed species or a human) is able to also extend an invitation to their friends. Invited friends will get 10 Esse, enough to purchase a First Time Owner Slot. If your friend completes their MYO before the end of the month, you can also get 5 Esse! You can invite multiple people.

People who join this month but don't have anyone to invite them can still submit for this prompt, and instead of rewarding 5 Esse to your friend, your 5 Esse for completion will go into a raffle for the event! Anyone is elligible for the raffle.

New Members

  1. You must not have claimed Newcomer Invites rewards in the past; your account must have 0 Esse and no Characters/MYO slots.
  2. Submit to this prompt with the following:
"I am a Newcomer and I am being invited by ___."
    OR
"I am a Newcomer and I am joining by myself."
  3. That's it! Once approved, you'll get 10 Esse which you can use at the MYO Shop.
  4. Create your MYO! Once complete and accepted, your friend can also submit to this prompt with a link to your character to claim their 5 Esse.

Current Members

  1. Once your friend completes their character, submit to this prompt with the following:
"I am a Member and I am claiming the following invitees."
  2. Add the characters of all completed MYO's using their ML codes (MYO-###).
  3. You may submit all at once, or multiple times. Newcomers who have already completed their MYO's are allowed to invite others and claim their esse as well!

Raffle

Be sure to enter yourself in the raffle for all the unclaimed newcomer esse!

Ynoch's Offering 2020

Ynoch's Offering 2020

Ends: 30 September 2021, 23:59:59 CDT (1 year ago)

Ynoch accepts stories as an offering, and gives blessings in return. View more details for requirements.

Details

Make an offering to Ynoch for good fortune and protection in the upcoming year.

Ynoch's Offering

One doesn't have to be a performer or a writer to offer a story to Ynoch, and they do not have to be retellings of her old stories. She accepts tales, real or fake, happy or sad, from anyone. Feats of the year, accomplishments, wishes, auto-biographies... every person has a story! Many even write about rumors they've heard of others.

These notes are written and then tied on strings to the branches of trees in her forest during this month. Stories will randomly vanish, until all have apparently been read by Ynoch.

This is a literature focused prompt.

Option A: Rumor

Write a rumor! It can be either about your character from a nameless NPC, or from your character's point of view about another character.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 sentence minimum
  • It can either be a rumor others have heard about your character, or a rumor your character has heard about someone else. Rumors are not necessarily true ;)

(If you don't know who to write about, check Open for Gift Art or ask in the discord server!)

Option B: Letter

Write a letter! It should be from your character's point of view. It can be addressed to Ynoch or any other character.

Many share the accomplishments they have in hopes they'll be remembered. Others write to Ynoch to lift the burden of a great tragedy when they have no one else to tell.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 sentence minimum
  • The letter should be about either a great tragedy or great triumph your character wants to express.
