New Connection

Category: Circles' Forum

Joining a circle marks a new beginning.

Details

Draw or write about your character joining a circle. Who might have brought them in? What might have motivated them to join? It doesn't have to be the moment they accepted an invitation-- it can be the reason they joined (such as lacking money or seeking revenge for something), meeting the person who inspired them, or some other tangentially related event.

Option A: Visual Art

Draw your character and why they joined a circle.

Minimum Visual Art requirements:

  • Halfbody
  • Sketch
  • Flat colors OR Shading
  • Style the picture as a fake anime/video game screenshot!
    • You can mostly accomplish this by overlaying text on top
    • Sometimes it helps to add a grainy filter by putting grain on top, setting the layer style to 'overlay', and reducing the opacity to around 1-5 percent.
Option B: Literature

Write about your character and why they joined a circle.

Minimum Literature requirements:

  • 'Diary Entry' style: write as if you were your character writing in a diary or journal. It can also be a letter addressed to someone else. This should be a first person pov.
  • 250 word minimum

Cutting Ties

Category: Circles' Forum

Leaving a circle doesn't necessarily mark the end.

Option A: Visual Art

Draw your character and why they left a circle.

Minimum Visual Art requirements:

  • Headshot
  • Sketch
  • Flat colors OR Shading
  • 1 other character from the circle featured.
  • 2 comic panels (both panels can be headshots, and characters can be split up between the panels)

Tools of the Trade

Category: Circles' Forum

Most jobs require some sort of tool set, equipment, or supplies.

Details

Draw or write about the tools, supplies, or storage your character uses. Do they borrow gear? Is it circle standard, or do they customize it? How well maintained (or neglected!) are their tools? What do they keep their supplies in (boxes, bags, crates, etc)? Do they have to secure any goods? What might they use for travel? Tools can tell a lot about their owner!

Option A: Visual Art

Draw an inventory for your character.

Minimum Visual Art requirements:

  • 1 bag
  • 1 tool
  • 3 supplies
  • Sketch
  • Flat color
  • Here is an example of an inventory sheet (character not required for this prompt).
Option B: Literature

Write about your character's inventory.

Minimum Literature requirements:

  • 1 bag
  • 2 tools
  • 5 supplies
  • 250 word minimum
  • We suggest writing this like video game item flavortext! For example:
    Well-worn Hammer
This item shows a lot of wear and tear. The leather around the grip frays badly, and there's a strange medicinal herb smell that lingers.
