Today it seems these two are stationed to guard the plaza where the bodies were found, among others. Adair, the Rrex, wears the ranking of a Sentinel, while Edel has no visible indication of rank. They seem to be keeping an eye on the scene to prevent tampering, rather than forbidding access altogether.
You-! What is your business?
If you provide the information that you obtain from your INVESTIGATION rolls on discord today, you will get 1 esse! You must make your posts in character.

Loch approaches stiffly, glancing only briefly at the crime scene before he makes a beeline for the sentinel and their charge.
Hey. You Adair? I heard you were on duty here yesterday morning. Did you see anything out of the ordinary?
Adair wrinkles his nose slightly, stiffening and raising one brow.
Sure. Idiot youths are always causing trouble. You want to hear about the want-to-be rogues or the drunk pisser?

Loch glances at Edel, deliberating with himself. She looks young, but if she's old enough to be doing this job, surely she's old enough to be around for this conversation. His gaze returns to Adair.
Oh, both, if you've got the time. And I assume you do, since you're just standing here.
Adair's halo glows a little bit more red for a moment.
Go to hell!
Before he can turn away, Edel seizes one ear and tugs to steer him back. He bruxes furiously, but stays in place. She speaks, voice quiet and raspy.
I took off after two vandals. They were seized, scolded, and returned to their homes. By the time I returned, I found Adair knocked out cold. I cannot carry a rrex, so I had to go get a replacement for the guard.
She pauses, then rubs Adair's ear apologetically. His halo is, notably, vibrating furiously. Embarrassment? She continues, apologetically.
He is not pleased to talk about this incident.
Well, that's admittedly pretty cute. Loch finds himself sort of endeared to the odd pair. He looks to Edel, speaking directly to her instead.
I see. Thanks for the info.
He pauses, shifting from one foot to the other in uncharacteristic unease.
Have there been any new developments? Any victims discovered, or people reported missing? I went to take a look at the bodies before I came here, n' some of 'em look pretty torn up. I figure it was probably a rrex or a tolka, with the size of the bites. I'd say it could'a been an immanu, but the puncture wounds were, uh... pretty wide.
He lowers his voice.
One of 'em had brown skin under the nails.
Adair seems to forget their embarrassment in the face of new information. Grumpy, but not entirely insensible, it seems.
Yes, you probably should not wander about alone, even if you are strong and capable. Disappearances have been occurring, and I am afraid that the killer may be trying to change their tactics after having been exposed.
Edel clears her throat to add more information.
I am afraid that the ones who burned the bodies are not the ones who killed them. Motives do not match up. Why hide bodies somewhere wet, then burn them? Someone is taking advantage of a tragedy-- and the killer may grow desperate in response.
I think brown skin is probably the truest clue we have towards the killer thus far. I would personally ignore the happenings around the plaza and focus on the source of the bodies.
One Esse has been granted!
Loch takes a slow, deliberate breath, standing a little straighter.
Have there been any new bodies discovered? And... What're your thoughts about the bodies we have? Have you gotten the chance to look at 'em?
My business is with you, rrex.
Iphae approaches the Sentinel with no hesitation, his presence confident and quite intimidating. The leyr's fiery gaze moves from Edel perched on Adair's shoulder to Adair himself.
I've heard whispers that you were the guard on watch this morning. If that's true then surely you would have seen something. I find it hard to believe that you didn't unless you're intentionally turning a blind eye to these killings.
Iphae extends his wings a bit, making himself look more imposing than he already does in an attempt to show this rrex that he means buisness
What do you say to that?
(Edited 2020-10-26 14:10:08)
Adair scowls. He's short for a rrex, standing several feet beneath Iphae's impressive height-- but he's old and cranky and doesn't seem flustered. Unlike yesterday's Watcher, he doesn't have the means to be cordial, neither.
I say you should probably stop listening to the ramblings of Aria, you deranged, demented hunter.
Adair spits to the side, teeth bruxing as the other squares up.
Do not think I have not heard of you. You are a bully and a killer, no honor in that. No honor in that at all.
He doesn't step back, but places a hand on the short sword on his side. Notably, his tail is too short to wield a tailblade proper. Edel remains silent.
Iphae lets out a bellowing laugh at Adair's snide remarks. It actually takes him a moment to regain his composure before he's able to continue with his questioning.
S'cuse me, but I don't think I asked for your opinion of me. I could care less what you think. If you want to talk about honor then let's discuss yours, shall we?
You were on guard the morning of the effigies being burned. Citizens have discovered that all of the effigies were swapped out with replacements. A vendor has said they saw this happening. How come you haven't come forth to offer the information you know? Were you sleeping on the job, old man? Your ancient bones hurt too much for you to stand at your guard post?
Seeing Adair place a hand on his sword prompts Iphae to flex his prosthetic, the sharp talons glinting in the light. He was just as armed and dangerous as Adair was. He didn't come here for bloodshed, he would not be he one to start the fight but he would be the one to finish it

Adair bristles, but doesn't draw his weapon. It's a fair question.
I... was attacked.
His words come with difficulty, and Edel speaks up reluctantly.
We were seperated and Adair was accosted. I was distracted for half an hour at least. I...
... Honestly find it strange that we were not also killed. The killer seems to be one who strikes at opportunity.
Vala runs up to the sentinel and his companion, leaping up onto his free shoulder as she struggles to catch her breath.
You! I was searching the western side of the city! Someone tried to attack me! Someone really really big! Oh I barely escaped.... It was so scary!
she sniffles softly, wiping a tear from one of four eyeless sockets
Please, can I stay with you for a few minutes?
(Edited 2020-10-26 04:15:32)
Adair seems to be used to Chimia and their habit of climbing onto others, and doesn't fight or startle. He does look a surprised at Vala's state, however. Edel immediately moves to put one arm around (but not on) Vala, looking back in the direction the other chimia had come from. Adair turns slowly, hand on sword.
It is good you got away,
Edel is the one who speaks.
You may stay. They must have thought you an easy target. It is good they were wrong.
Adair's loud voice makes Rhiath freeze for just a moment - where was that person from yesterday? They were a lot less intimidating than the stern gaze of the Rrex in front of him now. Still, even with his halo growing a little fuzzier, he clears his throat and speaks.
"I am here to follow up about some information I previously reported - the increase in disappearances in the north and west. I was informed of strange lights in those areas, so I investigated."
For a moment, Rhiath falls silent, as if to gather courage. He takes a deep breath, then continues.
"The locals talked of somebody wandering about with a lantern, late at night. They seemed rather scared, mostly moving about in pairs, even during the day. I would be surprised if this was not connected, personally."
